Back in 2014, East Riding of Yorkshire Council required servicing of their sites and the work was tendered and subsequently awarded to Walker Fire. This included the full servicing of all fire extinguishers and fire safety compliance at each site, including signage and all other equipment, alongside a range of our fire safety services to ensure compliance at all times.
The solution
Walker Fire work alongside East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure all of their sites are fully compliant with current legislation. A service agreement was put in place for us to work with the council on a year by year. We also go beyond the call of duty to assist and provide advice on fire safety and any concerns.
Due to the nature of council budgets and requirements, the sites are continually changing, which presents a unique challenge. Through our approach we have been able to minimise any impact and disruption, as well as keep costs low by re-deploying assets when and wherever they are required.

After holding the initial tender for 3 years, we have had our contract extended twice, each by one year due to the customer being happy with the service we provide. The re-deployment of assets is key to success with this contract and the client appreciates the efforts that are made to reduce costs through this, the engineer always has spare units owned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure quick and efficient service.
